“When I asked her, maybe only on the third or fourth day, what her name was, she told me: “I am Sister Zdenka Schelingová.“ And so we became friends, and when the doctor came to change the bandage, I was looking at the awful surgical wound that she had on her right side. I saw that she had a mastectomy and it absolutely did not come to my mind, I could not understand that a religious sister had a mastectomy. As a religious sister, I considered her an intact woman. I did not want to ask around at all, it was just mightily strange to me, and I thought: I will wait and maybe Sister Zdenka will become friends with me, and this is what occured.“
